2016 NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll – No. 2 (March 1)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Defending national champion Georgia Gwinnett remains in the No. 1 position in the first regular-season edition of the NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. The third regular-season poll will be released March 15.

Top 25 Highlights

• Georgia Gwinnett earns the No. 1 ranking after capturing all 12 first-place votes and 312 total points.
• The Grizzlies opened its season with seven wins, five wins against NCAA Division I, II and III teams. In its most recent matchup, Georgia Gwinnett def. (RV) Middle Georgia, 5-0.
• No. 5 Coastal Georgia (5-1) and No. 7 Keiser (Fla.) climbed up four spots each highlighting the positive movement in the Top 25.
• No. 8 Dalton State (Ga.) had the biggest fall in the Top 25 as it fell six positions.
• No. 7 Keiser (Fla.) cracks the top 10 for the first time since the 2007 preseason poll where it held the No. 8 ranking.
• No. 21 Warner (Fla.) is back in the Top 25 for the first time since the 2014 postseason poll.
• No. 24 Middle Georgia State is ranked for the first time in school history.
• The Southern States Athletic Conference leads all leagues with five teams represented each.
• Georgia Gwinnett (2015), Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (2009, 08, 07) Fresno Pacific (Calif.) (2011, 10), Azusa Pacific (Calif.) (2006, 04) and Oklahoma City (2001, 00) are the only teams to go the entire season ranked No. 1.
• Auburn Montgomery has the most No. 1 rankings in the Top 25 (29), former-member Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and Fresno Pacific (Calif.) are second with 23 each.
