Top 25 Poll - No. 10
The final poll for the 2011 season will be released Sunday by 12 p.m. CST, following the completion of the conference/independent/unaffiliated tournaments. The 32-team field for the 2011 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round will be announced Sunday by 7 p.m. CST.
Lee (Tenn.) and Mobile (Ala.) retained their spots at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. The Lady Flames tallied 602 points to the Rams' 562 points. Both squads have advanced to Thursday's semifinals on opposite sides of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament bracket, with the championship to be decided on Saturday. No. 4 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) (557 points) and No. 5 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) (556) exchanged rankings and will collide for the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament title on Friday.
No. 24 Westminster (Utah) once again returned to the Top 25 after bouncing in and out of the rankings all season. The Griffins replaced Carroll (Mont.) as the lone newcomer to the poll. All but one of the 10 clubs that climbed in the poll did so by two or more positions. Bellevue (Neb.) moved up from No. 25 to 23 after claiming top honors in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. No. 11 Northwood (Fla.) dropped back four spots after being upended 2-0 by St. Thomas (Fla.) in the semifinals of The Sun Conference Tournament.
Sixteen conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups are represented throughout the Top 25, led by four squads from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and GSAC. Hailing from the CCAC are No. 9 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), No. 17 Judson (Ill.), No. 18 Trinity Christian (Ill.) and No. 22 Robert Morris (Ill.). Azusa Pacific, Point Loma Nazarene, No. 15 Westmont (Calif.) and No. 19 Concordia (Calif.) are from the GSAC.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups.
