MRPI - No. 2
Nov 03, 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hastings (Neb.) compiled the No. 1 ranking in the second official NAIA Men’s Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), announced by the national office Wednesday. The Broncos replace Mobile (Ala.), who was the top-ranked team in the Sept. 28 installment. No. 2 Baker (Kan.) and No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) follow the Broncos in the MRPI. Mobile fell three spots to fourth, while Rio Grande (Ohio) rounds out the top five.
The No. 1 MRPI ranking is a first for the Broncos (15-1-0). They become the fourth different team to hold the top billing, joining Mobile, Rio Grande and former NAIA member Simon Fraser (B.C.).
The MRPI consists of the team’s modified winning percentage, their opponents’ winning percentage and the cumulative ranking points from the current NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
