Morningside's Smith Joins 100-Victory Club

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Drew Smith, a 141 pound senior from Milburn, Neb., became the fourth wrestler in Morningside (Iowa) history to achieve 100 career victories when the Mustangs competed at the Desert Duals Monday in Las Vegas, Nev.

Smith reached the 100-victory milestone with a 12-0 major decision over Paul Miller in the Mustangs' 27-17 victory against California Baptist. The win put Smith's career record at 100-43, including a 16-4 mark this season.

Jake Stevenson is Morningside's all-time leader with 130 career victories, followed by Jared Pickett with 113 and Chris Utesch with 101.

Morningside went 2-1 at the event Desert Duals to put its season's record at 5-1-1.

The Mustangs will compete in the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Jan. 8-9 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
