Lindenwood No. 1 in First NAIA Men's Swimming & Diving Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lindenwood (Mo.) tallied three first-place votes and 28 points to be named No. 1 in the first 2010-11 NAIA Men’s Swimming & Diving Coaches’ Poll, the NAIA announced Thursday. The Lions, led by head coach Craig Penrose, claim the top spot for their highest ranking in program history. Lindenwood returns four 2010 NAIA Swimming & Diving All-Americans including: DJ Ashruf, Javier Hernandez, Simon Morley and Colin Sharpe.

Fresno Pacific (Calif.) and SCAD Savannah (Ga.) begin the season tied at No. 2 with 14 points each. The Sunbirds, who are the defending national champions, grabbed the remaining first-place vote. Simon Fraser (B.C.) comes in at No. 4 with 12 points, while California Baptist rounds out the top five with eight points.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches from the NAIA Swimming & Diving Coaches Association. The second poll will be released on Jan. 20.
