WHITING, Ind. – Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.) Crimson Wave men’s basketball junior guard Wilfredo Escobar secured his place in basketball history when he reached the 1,000 point plateau on Dec. 20.  Escobar is just the fourth Crimson Wave men’s basketball player to reach this mark.

With just 11 seconds left in the game against Waldorf (Iowa) College in the Crimson Wave Holiday Invite, Escobar put away a pair of free throws to give him his 1,000th and 1, 1001 point of his career. He finished the night with 23 points and three assists as the Crimson Wave defeated Waldorf 72-65.

Escobar has been named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference all-conference team each of his three years playing for the Crimson Wave.   Escobar was also named CCAC Freshman of the year in 2007-2008.

Escobar has also become the Crimson Wave men’s basketball all-time assist leader with 236 assists.
