Romaine Seguin, President of UPS Americas, started her career at United Parcel Service after graduating from NAIA member institution William Woods University (Mo.) The lessons learned and experiences gained during her time as an NAIA student-athlete proved beneficial as she moved into leadership positions within UPS.
Seguin, the oldest of five children, was the first in her family to attend college and compete on a full scholarship in volleyball and softball. As a student-athlete, Seguin learned that understanding integrity, a core value of NAIA’s Champions of Character program, was going to help her become successful on and off the field. Throughout her career at UPS, Seguin has always kept in Integrity in mind. UPS has built its brand on earning the trust of its customers, so Romaine has always kept integrity at the forefront in her business dealings with clients, government officials and others.
“Because the corporate world is competitive and I am competitive, I have transitioned into the business world with integrity and humbleness” said Seguin. “Respectful and honest leaders start their careers with integrity and humble beginnings.”
Seguin started her career in 1983 at UPS in St. Louis unloading trailers at 3:30 a.m. as a part-time hub supervisor. In the past 30 years, she has worked in many management positions with UPS, both in the United States and Europe. In 2010, Seguin was named president of the Americas Region and uses the experienced she gained abroad to improve operations in Central America, Caribbean and South America.
Seguin attributes her early upbringing playing sports and humbleness to her success within UPS. Her spirit of adventure led her to William Woods, where she embraced the culture of learning these values on and off the field.
