Bellevue (Neb.) stuns No. 1 Hastings (Neb.)

HASTINGS, Neb. — The Bellevue University (Neb.) men's soccer team posted a 3-1 upset win at top-ranked Hastings College (Neb.) Wednesday night in non-conference action at Lloyd Wilson Field.
With the win, Bellevue improved to 3-5-0 while Hastings suffered its first loss of the season and dropped to 7-1-0.
The Bruins struck first on Rob Jackson's goal in the 35th minute that beat Broncos' goalkeeper Alex Guyer. Jackson netted his second goal of the match at the 55:53 mark on a shot from 18 yards out. Jackson leads the team with five goals this season.
Bellevue added to its lead on Jamie Waters' first goal of the season on a pass from Jacob Cawsey at the 61:46 mark of the second half.
Hastings scored its lone goal of the match at 73:30 a Thomas Boss shot that found the back of the net.
Scott Robertson improved to 2-1-0 after recording three second half saves in goal for the Bruins. Guyer registered six saves for Hastings.
The Broncos of Hastings outshot Bellevue, 12-11.
The Bruins will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 for a 1:00 p.m. contest at Ashford University (Iowa).
