BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Park University freshman outside hitter Daniel Arteaga earned his second NAIA Player of the Week award of the young 2014 season and junior setter Kyle Hanagami of Grand View earned his second NAIA Setter of the Week award, announced on Monday afternoon.
Joining them on the list of weekly awards was Lourdes’ CJ Rilveria who was named the NAIA Libero of the Week.
Arteaga was first awarded the national player of the week award back on Jan. 27, and this week he was awarded for his efforts in the Pirates three-set win over Missouri Valley.
The Caracas, Venezuela native averaged five kills per set and a hitting percentage of .414 and collected 1.3 digs per set in the victory over Missouri Valley.
Hanagami and the No. 2 ranked Vikings defeated Culver-Stockton on Feb. 7 in three sets. In that victory he averaged 15.5 assists per set along with one service ace per set and .5 digs per game.
Lourdes’ CJ Rilveria earned his first-ever NAIA Libero of the Week honor after averaging 3.5 digs per set and had zero passing errors in the Gray Wolves’ four set win over St. Xavier on Feb. 7. Lourdes is currently 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the NAIA Great Lakes Division.
