The final poll will be released Sunday by 12 p.m. CST, following the completion of the conference/independent/unaffiliated tournaments. The 32-team field for the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round will be announced Sunday by 5 p.m., and the official bracket by 7 p.m.
No. 2 Baker (Kan.) grabbed the remaining first-place nod to go along with 566 total points. The Wildcats have posted a 16-0-1 mark heading into their Heart of America Athletic Conference semifinal match on Thursday. No. 3 Hastings (Neb.), No. 4 Rio Grande (Ohio) and No. 5 Mobile (Ala.) close out the top-five rankings.
No. 13 Belhaven (Miss.) made the biggest jump up with a four-spot improvement. The Blazers will match up against No. 9 (tie) Southern Poly (Ga.) on Thursday in the semifinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.
William Carey (Miss.) trickled down seven spots to No. 16 to suffer the worst fall. The Crusaders have gone 1-2-3 in their last six matches.
No. 23 Biola (Calif.) and No. 25 Milligan (Tenn.) make the newcomers list. Milligan is ranked for the first time since the 2007 Preseason Top 25 when it was 14th. Biola reappears for the first time since Oct. 11.
Two teams dropped out Fresno Pacific (Calif.) (No. 21) and Graceland (Iowa) (No. 24).
The Southern States Athletic Conference leads all conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups with five teams in the Top 25: Mobile, Southern Poly, Belhaven, William Carey and No. 19 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.). Both the Heart of America Athletic Conference and Golden State Athletic Conference claim a trio of ranked clubs. Overall, 14 of the 22 conferences/independents/unaffiliated groups are listed.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/independents/unaffiliated groups.
NOTES: (All information dates back to 2000) Both the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) men’s and women’s soccer programs hold the No. 1 position, which marks the third-straight week – Since 2000, this accomplishment is the 14th time that both soccer teams have been ranked in the top spot during the same Top-25 poll… The Blue Raiders now stand with 34 No. 1 mentions, which ranks second on the all-time list – No. 4 Rio Grande (Ohio) leads the group (36), followed by Bethel (Tenn.) (11), Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (9), Hastings (Neb.) (8), Azusa Pacific (Calif.) (5) and Concordia (Calif.) (5)… With 19 victories, No. 3 Hastings owns the most this season… There have been 45 programs ranked in 11 polls this season and 14 of those have held a spot each week… Rio Grande has been ranked in the top 10 for the last 34-straight polls, dating back to the start of the 2009 season… Overall, there have been 16 different teams to claim the No. 1 spot… Lindsey Wilson holds the distinction of being consecutively ranked the longest among active schools – 55-straight polls, dating back to the 2007 Preseason Top 25 Poll… Rio Grande is next in line with 49, followed by Azusa Pacific with 42 and Hastings with 40… Since 2000, two teams have rattled through the entire season ranked No. 1 – Bethel in 2009 and Rio Grande during the 2004 season.
