MRPI - No. 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) earned the top spot in the first official NAIA Women’s Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), the national office announced Wednesday. This is the first time that Blue Raiders’ (6-0-1) have occupied the top spot in the MRPI. The top is rounded out by No. 2 Azusa Pacific (Calif.), No. 3 Lee (Tenn.), No. 4 Concordia (Calif.) and No. 5 Cal State San Marcos.
The highest previous spot for Mobile was fifth in the Oct. 13, 2010 edition of the MRPI. The Blue Raiders are the third different team to hold the top billing since the MRPI was introduced in 2010, joining Concordia (Ore.) and Lee.
The MRPI consists of the team’s modified winning percentage, their opponents’ winning percentage and the cumulative ranking points from the current NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
The MRPI will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship field. The next official MRPI announcement will be on Oct. 26.
