Players of the Week - No. 9

November 01, 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mor Efraim of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Westmont's (Calif.) Lindsey Smith has been selected as NAIA National Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Efraim and Smith were selected based on their performances from Oct. 24 - 30 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Efraim scored three goals in the No. 8 RedHawks final two regular-season contests, including a pair in a 2-2 tie with top-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Oct. 29. The junior midfielder also netted a ball in a 2-0 blanking of Bethel (Tenn.) on Oct. 25 to help Martin Methodist clinch the No. 1 seed in the TranSouth Athletic Conference Tournament.

Hailing from Nevatim, Israel, Efraim's 1.21 goals per game average lists her ninth nationally and she is listed 13th in points per game (2.64) and 14th in total goals (17). This is the second time this season that Efraim has been honored as the National Offensive Player of the Week.

Smith anchored the 18th-ranked Warrior defense in their final regular season Golden State Athletic Conference matches. The Pleasanton, Calif., native, made nine saves in a 3-1 win over Fresno Pacific (Calif.) on Oct. 26. She followed with a two-save effort to claim her fourth shutout of her sophomore campaign as Westmont dealt No. 3 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) its first loss of the season, 2-0, on Oct. 29.

The final Players of the Week announcement will be on Nov. 8.
