Point Park Stays Perfect

MARION, Ind. - Point Park defeated Doane College by a 9-1 scoreline in the afternoon game of the 2012 NAIA Baseball Opening Round Marion Bracket. The No. 2 seeded Pioneers knocked in plenty of runs to remain undefeated in opening round play.

The Tigers had a tough time keeping Point Park's hitters quiet, the Pioneers got started early and were up 3-0 heading into the 5th inning. Doane got on the board in the 6th, but also allowed 2 more Point Park tallies. The Pioneers put the game to bed in the 7th, putting up 4 runs on 5 hits.

Doane now moves into the losers bracket and will face the winner of No. 1 Concordia-No. 3 Taylor game which will be played Friday night at 8:00 p.m.

Point Park will look to take the bracket undefeated as they have played their way into the championship game. Game 8, the first championship game, will be played Saturday, May 12, at 7:00 p.m. A second championship game will be played on Monday May 14 if necessary.
