Appalachian Athletic Conference Welcomes Two New Members

June 18, 2012
The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) has announced that its Council of Presidents voted to accept SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) and Truett-McConnell College (Ga.) as new members.

SCAD Atlanta, which is affiliated with the Savannah College of Art and Design, will begin its membership in the AAC effective with the 2012-2013 academic year.

Truett-McConnell College will begin its membership in the AAC effective with the 2013-14 academic year.

"We are very pleased to welcome both SCAD Atlanta and Truett-McConnell College to the AAC," said John Sullivan, AAC Commissioner. "These two schools are relative new to the NAIA, but they both have shown that they are committed to the principles of character-driven athletics that is a hallmark of this conference."

Both institutions are experiencing tremendous growth and have the potential to add even more sports in the future, according to Sullivan.

The AAC, an affiliated conference within the NAIA, consists of ten colleges and universities in Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Member institutions include: Bryan College, Columbia College (SC), Milligan College, Montreat College, Point University, Reinhardt University, St. Andrews University, Tennessee Wesleyan College, Union College (KY) and Virginia Intermont College.
