Warner (Fla.) to Add Football in 2013

Warner University (Fla.) has announced that it is adding the sport of football. Warner athletics director Kevin Jones and university president Greg Hall made the announcement and also noted that Warner has appointed Jeff Schaum as head coach.

Warner is scheduled to begin season competition in the fall of 2013, with conditioning  and skill development activities beginning  in the fall of 2012.

"Realizing the need for a Christian university football program in central Florida, Warner University has announced the launch of its football program set to begin competition in the fall of 2013," Jones said.

The program will be under the direction of Schaum, who most recently worked as athletics director and head football coach at Victory Christian Academy in Lakeland, Fla.  His collegiate coaching career includes a graduate assistant position working under legendary head coach Bobby Bowden at Florida State University, as well as time as head coach of Cisco Junior College, and as defensive coordinator / assistant head coach at McMurray University in Abilene, Texas.
