NAIA Women’s Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index – No. 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lee (Tenn.) earned the top spot in the first official NAIA Women's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), the national office announced Wednesday. This is the first time since the Oct. 27, 2010 MRPI that the Lady Flames (5-1-0) have occupied the No. 1 position.
Only three teams have held the No. 1 position in the MRPI: Concordia (Ore.) (3), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (3) and Lee (2).
The remainder of the top five rounded out by No. 2 Lindsey Wilson, No. 3 Concordia, No. 4 Oklahoma City and No. 5 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.). The Stars and Warhawks are making their first-ever MRPI top-five appearance, since the MRPI was established in 2010.
No. 22 Cornerstone (Mich.) and No. 27 Carlow (Pa.) are the only top-30 teams that are not currently ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The MRPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ratings points from the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
