KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (Scoreboard) Fifteen teams advance to the 2012 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship final site after Opening Round wins today. Those programs join No. 5 Mobile (Ala.) for the remainder of the single-elimination tournament from Nov. 26 - Dec. 1 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.

The top eight seeds will continue their seasons in Orange Beach (Mobile has a bye as the host team) thanks to strong offense and tight defenses. The top three seeds, No. 1 Lee (Tenn.), No. 2 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and No. 3 Vanguard (Calif.) all recorded shutouts and scored 12 goals combined. With the win, the four-time defending national champion Lady Flames have now outscored their opponents 62-3 during their current 21-match national championship unbeaten streak.

The overall scoring margin of the top eight seeds was 27-2. Lee, No. 4 Oklahoma City and No. 7 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) boast the largest scoring output with five goals each.

Championship newcomer Cumberland (Tenn.) upended No. 9 Martin Methodist (Tenn.), 1-0, for the biggest upset of the day. The Bulldogs scored the match's lone goal in the 72nd minute when Rhianne Parsons found the net off an assist by NAIA scoring leader Kelsey Langille. Martin Methodist was previously unbeaten in opening round play since the format began in 2008.

Texas at Brownsville and Robert Morris (Ill.) were the other unseeded teams to record wins today. The Scorpions knocked off No. 13 William Carey (Miss.), 2-1, while Robert Morris downed No. 10 Graceland (Iowa), 4-0.

The host schools went 13-2-0 on the day.

The Southern States Athletic Conference, The Sun Conference, Mid-South Conference and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference all had two schools advance to Orange Beach.
