FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The NAIA #17 ranked Emmanuel College Men's Basketball Team put an exclamation point at the end of their regular season by defeating the visiting NAIA #2 ranked Lee University Flames 68-65 Monday night inside the Williamson Basketball Arena.
Five Lions scored in double-digit points to fuel a balanced offense leading the team to the victory. Adrian Justice led in scoring with 13 points while Michael Stanley enjoyed his 10th double-double of the season knocking down 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jeremy Burgess scored 12 points on the night as Patrick McCrary and Luke Miller also chipped in 10 points each to the scoring total.
The team was welcomed to the court in a "white out" fan promotion and the large EC crowd made sure they were seen and heard all game long cheering on the Lions.
EC trailed 35-28 at the half and the seesaw game saw 10 lead changes, 4 ties and a dramatic EC win with a 3-pointer from Miller at the final buzzer.
With the win, the Lions are now 27-3 on the season and 16-2 in the SSAC. EC was a very impressive 14-1 at home this season and the win tonight reverses the Lee win over EC just a little over two weeks ago in Cleveland, Tenn. The earlier Lee win snapped EC's 15-game winning streak, but EC's win tonight just snapped Lee's 15-game winning streak.
Even better is that EC now earns a share of the SSAC regular-season title finishing with an identical 16-2 conference mark tied with Lee University and William Carey University for the top spot.
The Lions are back on the court on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the SSAC tournament. EC will meet AUM at 9:45 p.m. at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery, Ala.
