MOBILE, Ala. – (Box Score) (Bracket) Embry-Riddle (Fla.) is advancing to the championship for the second time and first time since 2011 after defeating Westmont (Calif.), 5-0, on Friday morning. The Eagles will be looking for their first national championship title tomorrow at 10 a.m.

“The guys played well today,” Embry-Riddle Head Coach Dave Paschal said. “We really jumped at one and three doubles and that set a tone of encouragement for the rest of team to play aggressively. It was a big day for us and now we go get ready for tomorrow, which should be a really good, hard match against AUM. We’re looking forward to a great match.”

Embry-Riddle raced out fast in doubles as the Eagles claimed No. 3 doubles taking the set 8-4 in forty minutes. Embry-Riddle was not done as they followed that match with its No. 1 doubles team coming in a few minutes later with an 8-3 victory.

In No. 2 doubles Westmont seemed to be in control, however the Eagles bounced back. Embry-Riddle fought off five match points sending it to a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, the Eagles never let the Warriors get going as Embry-Riddle came away with a 7-2 tiebreaker win and a 3-0 lead after doubles.

In singles action, the Eagles continued to dominate as they only dropped one set in singles action at the completion of the match. Singles players, Simon Felix and David Spennare clinched the win for the Eagles. Felix won his match, 6-2, 6-2, while Spennare won, 6-4, 6-1.

Embry-Riddle advances to face Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) in the championship match tomorrow at 10 a.m.
