KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fourth-consecutive week and seventh time this season, Embry-Riddle (Fla.) has claimed the No. 1 ranking in the 2013 NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Wednesday. The Eagles received all 13 first-place votes for 343 points to secure the top spot.

Embry-Riddle won its first-ever national championship on May 18 when they defeated No. 2 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.), 5-4. The Eagles ended the season winning 18-straight matches, dating back to March 5.

National runner-up Auburn Montgomery comes in second with 332 points. Coming in at No. 3 is Vanguard (Calif.) with 321 points. Westmont (Calif.) comes in at No. 4 with 310 points. Rounding out the top five is No 5 Xavier (La.) with 294.

The Saints defeated Asbury (Ky.), 9-0, and five-seed Bethany (Kan.) in the national championship. Graceland advanced to the second round of the national championship after defeating Northwood (Fla.). The Yellowjackets were eliminated in the second round by national runner-up Auburn Montgomery.

No teams joined the poll or fell out of the poll this week.

Ten of the 13 conferences/independents/unaffiliated groupings are represented throughout the Top 25, led by The Sun Conference and Mid-South Conference with four teams apiece. A trio of conferences follow with three teams each.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independents/unaffiliated groupings.
