Whitehead Wins 300th Game as Evangel Coach

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel (Mo.) head women’s volleyball coach Mary Whitehead won her 300th career game as a head coach when the Crusaders beat College of the Ozarks (Mo.) 3-2 this weekend. Evangel completed the weekend going 3-0 in the tournament they hosted. In addition to the win over College of the Ozarks, the Crusaders picked up wins Saturday against Tabor (Kan.), 3-1, and William Woods (Mo.). 3-0.

Whitehead, in her 14th season as Evangel’s head coach, is 302-176. Each of her 14 seasons as a head coach has been at Evangel. Whitehead became the program’s all-time leader in coaching wins in 2009 when she passed Sandra Sorbo with her 219th career victory.

She entered the season ranked 20th among active NAIA coaches in career wins and her .636 winning percentage ranked 23rd among active coaches starting the season.

The Crusaders return to action Tuesday at John Brown (Ark.).
