The Cascade Collegiate Conference is an NAIA conference that sanctions competition in 13 sports, including men’s golf. The Conference is made up of 10 NAIA institutions in three contiguous states: Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Originally formed as a scheduling alliance in volleyball in 1978, the Cascade Collegiate Conference has evolved into one of the NAIA’s most formidable leagues.
Corban University is an NAIA school, located in Salem, Ore., that competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The school
currently sponsors 13 varsity sports including men’s golf.
The Creekside Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course, completed in June of 1994 that—when first opened—was rated as one of the top golf courses in the state of Oregon by Golf Digest. The 6,887 yard, par-72 course was designed by PGA Tour professional and golf course architect Peter Jacobsen. Jacobsen won seven events on the PGA Tour and owns two major championship victories on the Champions Tour. He has also designed over a dozen premiere courses—including several throughout his native state of Oregon.
"Our entire organization including owner Terry Kelly, head professional Dana Londin, the staff and our membership are thrilled to be working with the Cascade Collegiate Conference, Corban University and the NAIA once again for the 2018 and 2019 Men’s Golf Championships,” said Dennis Whitlock, General Manager of Creekside Golf Club.
The NAIA has sponsored men’s golf since 1952, when its inaugural championship in the sport was held at the Abilene Country Club in Abilene, Texas. Oklahoma City, which won its second-consecutive team title in 2013, leads the NAIA with nine national championships overall. Currently, 180 institutions sponsor the sport of men’s golf. Since 1937, the NAIA has administered programs and championships in proper balance with the overall educational experience. In 2000, the NAIA reaffirmed its purpose to enhance the character-building aspects of sport. Through the Champions of Character program, the NAIA seeks to create an environment in which every student-athlete, coach, official and spectator is committed to the true spirit of competition through five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
