MOBILE, Ala. — Former University of Mobile men's soccer player and current Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown has been selected by the Jamaican National Team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Jamaica visits the United States Oct. 11 and hosts Honduras Oct. 15.
In two seasons with the Rams, Brown tallied 53 goals and eight assists for 114 points, earning 1st-Team NAIA All-America and SSAC Player of the Year honors both seasons.
After going on to play one season at Central Florida, Brown was selected 6th overall in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids.
In 29 games, Brown leads the team with nine goals and is third with four assists. He is coming off a two-goal performance against Seattle Saturday.
The Manchester, Jamaica native is the second former Ram to be called up to a national team this season, as Michael Azira was called up to the Ugandan National Team in September for World Cup qualifying.
Azira played one season for UMobile in 2011 and tallied a pair of goals and four assists, earning Honorable Mention NAIA All-America honors.
He currently plays for the Charleston Battery of the USL-Pro.
