IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 16 Concordia (Calif.) Eagles were the victor in the battle of unbeaten teams on Wednesday afternoon, October 9, as they defeated No. 11 The Master's (Calif.), 4-1, in a rain-soaked game at Eagles Field to win their seventh-straight game and go to 3-0 in the GSAC.

Concordia set the pace just five minutes in when Lauren Nanez scored her fourth of the year when she finished Megan Daniels cross from the left side. TMC tied the match at 38:32 as Gabrielle Arnone rebounded her own header and the teams went to the break knotted.

Just three minutes into the second half Lizette Lunamade a great run and headed home a corner kick from Miranda Canales for her second goal of the year. The Eagles offense got rolling from there. At 63:54 Nanez scored again, this time receiving a long cross from Canales and finishing through the left slot. Elizabeth Abt put a bow on the match with her fourth of the year when she one-touched a cross fromAlexis Garcia-Irons.

Current GSAC Defensive Player of the Week Jazmin Alvarez had three saves and improved to 8-0-2. TMC keeper Ilyssa Espiritu had seven saves, but allowed the four goals to drop to 10-1. CU outshot the Mustangs 17-8 and 11-4 in shots on goal. The game was well-played with only 13 fouls and one yellow card.

The Master's looked for a while like they would tie the match following the Luna goal, as they dominated ball control and took two shots for a ten minute period, but the Nanez goal took the wind out of the TMC sails. The teams battled the elements as it rained for the entire match.

Concordia remained unbeaten at 8-0-2 and 3-0 in the GSAC, while The Master's (10-1, 2-1 GSAC) took their first loss of the season. The Eagles claimed their fourth win over a top-25 team this season and will face San Diego Christian at 2:30 pm at Eagles Field on Saturday, October 12. Follow live stats at
