DES MOINES, Iowa - The Grand View (Iowa) football team was back home at Williams Stadium Saturday and came out victorious once again, this time defeating rival #8 St. Ambrose (Iowa) 35-21 in the NAIA Game of the Week.

In front of a big crowd of Vikings fans on a crisp sunny day, sophomore quarterback Derek Fulton (Bettendorf, Iowa) shined bright once again. On the Vikings opening drive, Fulton continued drives twice on critical third downs to lead GV to a 6-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Jackson Petz (Williamsburg, Iowa) capped off the drive with a 21 yard catch to make it 6-0.

The Bees would answer after Kelvin Gilkey's (Lewisville, Texas) 74 yard interception and return for a touchdown was nixed by a holding call before the pass that had the crowd stirring. Brad Connor caught a 19 yard pass from Eric Williamson to give SAU a 7-6 lead.

Twice in the second quarter, the Vikings put in some heavy artillery to get over the goal line. Mike Perez (Dike, Iowa) scored two 1-yard touchdowns in the quarter behind big blocks from senior linebacker Dudley Bickham (Pensacola, Fla.) and tackle Presley Godson (Rosenburg, Texas). Williamson would scamper 28 yards late in the second quarter to make it a 21-14 Grand View advantage at the half.

Junior Keonte White (Grand Prairie, Texas) didn't waste anytime stretching the lead back to 14 as he returned the opening kick of the second half 80 yards for a touchdown behind some great blocking by the special teams crew.

With 4:57 left in the third, Fulton found sophomore Davion Hurst (Houston, Texas) for a 32 yard touchdown reception that completed a seven-play, 85 yard drive that ended the scoring in the game and gave the Vikings a 35-21 lead.

St. Ambrose outgained the Vikings 356-335 and had two more first downs, but Grand View was 10-for-15 on third down conversions.
