Menís Volleyball Top 10 Poll Remains Nearly Unchanged

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Eight of the 10 spots in this week’s NAIA Men’s Volleyball Top 10 Poll remained the same, as the only spots to change were at No. 8 and No. 9 with Missouri Valley and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) flipping spots to No. 8 and No. 9 respectively.
Concordia (Calif.) kept a hold of its No. 1 spot again this week with a perfect week of matches, as the Eagles went 3-0 with wins over UC Merced and two victories over UC-Santa Cruz to improve to 9-3.
Grand View (Iowa) kept its perfect record this week with three more victories to improve to 7-0 and keep its No. 2 ranking. The Vikings defeated No. 7 Warner (Fla.) in four sets on Jan. 24 and then took down Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) in three and then-No. 8 Cardinal Stritch also in three.
Missouri Baptist kept its No. 3 ranking this week and perfect record, with a 2-0 week. The Spartans improve to 3-0 in this young season with wins over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) and Warner and are now 2-0 in the NAIA South Division.
Park (Mo.) bounced back after dropping its first loss of the season last week at home to Grand View with two victories this week. The Pirates improved to 4-1 on the season with a three-set win over No. 7 Warner and a five set nail bitter against then-No. 8 CSU (22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10).
Hope International (Calif.) is again ranked No. 5 this week. The Royals lost its first match of the 2014 season on Sunday, Jan. 26 falling to Grand Canyon University in five sets (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 10-15).
St. Ambrose is still perfect in 2014 with its 5-0 record and hangs on at No. 6 this week. The Fighting Bees defeated Cardinal Stritch, Robert Morris and Culver-Stockton all in three sets and improve to 1-0 in the NAIA North Division.
No. 7Warner opened up its 2014 season last week and went 3-3 in the process withwins over Lindenwood-Belleville and nationally ranked Cardinal Stritch and Missouri Valley.
Theirthree losses came to No. 3 ranked Missouri Baptist, No. 4 Park and No. 2 Grand View.
Missouri Valley moved up to the No. 8 spot with its 3-1 week. The Vikings moved to 7-1 on the year with wins over Graceland, Cardinal Stritch and Lindenwood-Belleville, but fell in three sets to Warner.
Cardinal Stritch has opened up its season with a 1-5 mark and went 0-5 last week, thus dropping to No. 9 in the poll.
Clarke rounds out the Top 10 this week again, with its 4-1 record. The Crusaders picked up one win last week, as they defeated Robert Morris on the road in four sets.
The next NAIA Top 10 Poll will be released on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.
