MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Florida Memorial University was paid a welcome unexpected surprise by International soccer star David Beckham this afternoon.
Beckham met with University President Roslyn Artis where they had a brief private meeting. The two discussed South Florida and Beckham’s upcoming plans to bring MLS soccer to South Florida. Dr. Artis share some of the University’s history and upcoming development plans at the University.
Following their meeting Beckham joined Artis and the two surprised the Florida Memorial University soccer team while they were in an afternoon scrimmage.
“I was excited to see David Beckham in person have him at FMU,” said soccer player Francisco Allegro, sophomore.
“I am thrilled that Mr. Beckham took the time to visit Florida Memorial University and spend some time with our students. I hope that this will be the first of many visits.” said University President Artis
‘It is good for the university and I hope it can help the university and the community” said Head men’s and women’s soccer coach, Fernando Valenzuela.
