Ottawa's Katie Tooley named KCAC SID of the Year
Wichita, Kan. - Katie Tooley of Ottawa University (Kan.) has been named Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. Tooley will be formally recognized at the 2014 KCAC Football Media Day, held on Wednesday, August 6th in Wichita, Kansas.
The Sports Information Director of the Year award is based on a vote of Sports Information Directors working at each Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference member institution.
Tooley has been a member of the Ottawa University staff since 2006. She is in charge of sports information and communications for 18 intercollegiate teams. She creates and distributes news releases to media outlets, compiles statistics for all OU sports, and archives the team and student-athlete information. She is in charge of game day programs, media guides, and games notes for all sports.
“Having outstanding professionals in the field of sports information at the level that we do in the KCAC is invaluable to our conference and institutions. The profession and its level of importance and impact has grown by leaps and bounds over the years and will only continue to grow,” stated Arabie Conner, Ottawa University Director of Athletics.
During her tenure at Ottawa, 20 of her publications have earned NAIA-Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA) honors, with two being named the best in the NAIA. Tooley has earned two Citations for Excellence in Publications in Division C for her combined men's and women's basketball media guides.

Her work ethic and passion to always provide coaches, fans, and media outlets the most up-to-date information is exceptional and is very worthy of this recognition,” said Conner.
In addition to her work with the College, Tooley volunteers his services at conference events. Serving at the KCAC Men's & Women's Basketball championships, Soccer championships, Softball championship tournament, and baseball championship tournament. Tooley volunteers as a youth softball and basketball coach. She also serves as Secretary of the NAIA-SIDA.
Tooley is the first KCAC Sports Information Director to win the award twice. The award was established in 2008 - 2009, Tooley won her first award in 2009 - 2010.
Tooley is a 2001 graduate of Ottawa University with a BA degree in history. She also holds a BS in Information Resource Science degree from Emporia State University, received in 2003.
Prior to joining the OU administrative staff, Tooley was a SID intern at Creighton University, and was a sports information assistant at Ottawa University.
