NAIA Women’s Soccer Players of the Week – No. 2 (Sept. 15)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two athletes from William Carey (Miss) have been named the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Players of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Both athletes were selected for their performances during the week of Sept. 7 – Sept. 13 and were chosen from a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners.

National Defensive Player of the Week

Brittany Lang, William Carey
Sr., D, Biloxi, Miss.

  • Led the Lady Crusaders defense to a 2-0 week.
  • Leader on the back line that did not allow a goal in two games against No. 14 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and No. 4 Cumberland (Tenn.).
  • During these two games the defense only allowed three shots.
  • This is her first career Player of the Week award.

National Offensive Player of the Week
Jamie Holifield, William Carey
Fr., F, Petal, Miss.

  • Helped lead the William Carey offensive attack by scoring four goals on the week.
  • Recoded a hat trick against No. 4 Cumberland (Tenn.).
  • Holifield now has four goals on the season, which ranks her in the top 70 in the NAIA.
  • This is her first career Player of the Week award.
