2015 NAIA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week – No. 5 (Oct. 6)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jamie Holifield of William Carey (Miss.) and Jovana Canales of Bethany (Kan.) have been named the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Players of the Week, the national office announced on Tuesday. Holifield and Canales were selected for their performances during the week of Sept. 28 – Oct. 4. and were selected from a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners.

National Defensive Player of the Week
Jovana Canales, Bethany (Kan.)
Jr., Gk., Brentwood, Calif.

• Allowed one goal and recorded 14 saves against RV Kansas Wesleyan
• Made six saves and logged a clean sheet against Sterling (Kan.).
• She ranks No. 23 in the NAIA in saves per game (7.8).
• This is her first career National Defensive Player of the Week award.

National Offensive Player of the Week
Jamie Holifield, William Carey (Miss.)
Fr., F, Petal, Miss.

• Scored the game-winning goals against Bethel (Tenn.) and No. 6 Martin Methodist (Tenn.).
• She ranks No. 20 in the NAIA in game winning goals with three.
• Her goal against Martin Methodist came against a defense that ranks No. 17 in the NAIA in shutouts (5) and shutouts per game (0.560).
• This is her second National Offensive Player of the Week award of the season and the second in her career.
