2015 NAIA Women’s Soccer All-America Teams Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has revealed the 2015 NAIA Women’s Soccer All-America teams, the national office announced Monday. The NAIA All-America Committee, which consists of the NAIA-Women’s Soccer Coaches Association officers and seven additional women’s soccer coaches, select the three 11-member teams.

Spring Arbor (Mich.) freshman midfielder Bethany Balcer was named the 2015 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Player of the Year. The Hudsonville, Mich., native is the first Cougar to win this award since its inception in 1997. Balcer led the team in goals (30) and points (73). She ranked third in the NAIA in both of these offensive categories. She recorded the second highest total on the team and 10th in the NAIA in assists with 13. Balcer, who was named the NAIA Championship Most Valuable Player, finished the event with a team-best in goals (5) and points (12).

Carola Schneider of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), is a three-time All-American. The junior defender was a first team member in 2013 as a freshman, received second team honors in her sophomore year and was named on the first team as a junior in 2015.

Overall, five freshman landed on the first, second or third team – Madyson Brown of Biola (Calif.) (first team), Balcer (first team), Yvonne Ploeg of Lindsey Wilson (second team), Jamie Holifield of William Carey (Miss.) (third team) and Abby Baravik of William Carey (third team).

Benedictine (Kan.) (Ashley Chandler (first team), Rosie McShane (first team) and Kara Hines (third team)), Campbellsville (Ky.) (Amanda Howard (first team) and Mhairi Fyfe (third team)) and Grace (Ind.) (Carianne Sobey (third team)) receive its first All-American’s in school history.

Overall, 13 teams have players represented on one of the teams. National runner-up Lindsey Wilson leads all teams with six players on the list.

The 2015 Select Sport America-NAIA Women’s Soccer National Coach of the Year will be announced at the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America (NSCAA) National Convention held in Baltimore, Md., Jan. 13 - 17.
