2016-17 NAIA Women's Swimmer/Diver of the Month - No. 2 (Jan. 19)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Julie Woody of SCAD Savannah (Ga.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Swimmer/Diver of the Month, the national office announced Thursday. Woody was selected for her performances from Dec. 13 – Jan. 15.  The final national award will be announced Feb. 16.

• Six-of-seven individual events this month, Woody claimed the top spot finishing with the fastest times. Even with a second-place finish, every time was “A-Qualifying” for Woody.
• Throughout the month, Woody participated in two meets where she won six races including the 50-yard backstroke (27.51), 100-yard freestyle (52.79), 200-yard individual medley (2:12.06) and was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:41.17).
• In the latest NAIA Top Times, Woody holds the top spot in three events – 50-yard freestyle (23.44), 100-yard freestyle (51.34) and 100-yard backstroke (57.86).
• The returning All-American and her team will host NCAA DI Georgia Southern in Savannah Saturday.
• This is Woody’s first National Swimmer of the Month honor.
