2018 NAIA Men's Soccer Players of the Week No. 8 (Oct. 23)

Carlos Solorio Men's Soccer Eastern Oregon Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carlos Solorio of Eastern Oregon has been named the NAIA National Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Austin Munoz of William Penn (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday.

 

Solorio and Munoz were selected based on their performances from Oct. 15-21 and were chosen out of a pool of conference, Association of Independent Institutions and unaffiliated group winners.

 

Men's soccer offensive player of the week

Carlos Solorio, Eastern Oregon

5-7 SR F; Los Angeles, Calif.

  • Led the Mountaineers to two big wins while clinching their first Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament berth in program history. Solorio scored both goals in the win against No. 10 Corban including the game-winner in the final ten minutes and had the game-winning goal against Northwest Christian on Sunday. The junior is second in the CCC in goals with 11 and third in points with 26. He was dynamic in both games, creating scoring chances for his teammates and providing clutch goals.

Men's soccer defensive player of the week

Austin Munoz, William Penn (Iowa)

5-11 JR GK; Harrisville, Utah

  • Munoz tallied five saves in William Penn’s double-overtime upset over No. 15 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.). He kept the Pioneers off the board for 102 minutes for his first shutout of the season.
