KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its plans on Wednesday to host the inaugural NAIA Senior Football Classic, just prior to the NAIA Football National Championship in December of 2019.
The game will feature NAIA senior football players from around the nation that are nominated and selected by NAIA football head coaches.
“We are excited to bring this event to NAIA Football,” said Austin Bennett, NAIA Director of Showcase. “It is a great opportunity to recognize senior football student-athletes as well as provide an opportunity for them to gain exposure to professional football organizations.”
The players are separated into east and west teams and will take the field at Memorial Stadium in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday, December 14, 2019, a week prior to the 2019 NAIA Football National Championship in Ruston, La.
“The Savannah Sports Council is excited to partner with the NAIA to host the inaugural NAIA Senior Football Classic. We look forward to welcoming this great group of young men to showcase their athletic abilities in front of professional football scouts and fans,” said Rob Wells, Director of the Savannah Sports Council. “We think Memorial Stadium is a great venue for this inaugural event and the players are really going to enjoy their week in Savannah.”
Player nominations will run from June 1-30, 2019 and rosters will be announced on July 15. Head coaches for both teams will be announced in the coming weeks.
