NAIA Men's Soccer Players of the Week No. 1 (Sept. 5)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Federico Moronell of St. Thomas (Fla.) has been named the NAIA National Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Guilherme Altoe of Mobile (Ala.) has been named the NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Moronell and Altoe were selected based on their performances from Aug. 28 – Sept. 3, and were chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Offensive Player of the Week
Federico Moronell, St. Thomas (Fla.)
6-1, Sr., F, Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • Scored a hat trick in win over Ave Maria (Fla.)
  • While trailing Dalton State (Ga.) 2-1, Moronell tied the game in 86th minute, and eventually scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute
  • Weekly stats.
    •  Six goals in three game
    • Five of the goals came from headers
    • Averaged four points a game

Defensive Player of the Week
Guilherme Altoe, Mobile (Ala.)
6-1, Jr., GK, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

  • Rio Grande scored six goals through the first two games of the season and Altoe was able to hold them scoreless while his team had a 1-0 lead
  • Weekly stats
    • Three saves against Rio Grande (Ohio)
    • One shutout
    • 0.796 Save % in 2017
