KANSAS CITY, Mo. – D’Mauria Martin of Concordia (Neb.), Kyle Mitchell of College of Idaho and Darius-James Peterson of College of Idaho were named the NAIA Football National Players of the Week, the national office announced Monday. The trio was chosen for their performances during the week of October 9 – 15 and were selected out of a pool of conference award winners.
Defensive Player of the Week
D’Mauria Martin, Concordia (Neb.)
Sr., DB, Converse, Texas
• Grabbed three interceptions to help Concordia (Neb.) to a 44-14 victory over Great Plains Athletic Conference rival Midland (Neb.).
• Weekly stats:
o Three interceptions and one pass breakup
o Two-of-three interceptions led directly to Bulldog touchdowns.
o Two tackles
o One tackle for loss
Special Teams Player of the Week
Kyle Mitchell, College of Idaho
So., K, Herriman, Utah
• Established a new College of Idaho school record with eight PATs in the Coyotes 59-27 victory over Montana Western.
• Weekly stats:
o Eight-for-Eight PATs – new school record
o Connected on 40-yard field goal
Offensive Player of the Week
Darius-James Peterson, College of Idaho
So., QB, Novato, Calif.
• Rushed for a career-high 230 yards and two touchdowns – the most by a quarterback in the NAIA this season – and added 224 yards passing and two passing touchdowns to lead College of Idaho to a 59-27 win over Montana Western.
• Weekly stats:
o Set new school record with 454 yards of total offense
o 230 yards rushing – third most in program history
o Four total touchdowns
o 224 yards passing
