KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Anna Arrese of Oklahoma Christian has been named the NAIA National Women's Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Arrese was selected based on her performances from March 26 - April 1 and was chosen out of a poll of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.
Arrese, a freshman from Barcelona, Spain, claimed her first individual championship in only her third collegiate tournament, while leading the Eagles to a third-place finish at the Battle at Primm at the Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev., on March 26 - 27. She opened the tournament with a round-one 72, before posting a second-round and season-best 69 en route to a 3-under-par 141 for the tournament. Arrese's score bettered the second-place finisher by eight strokes.
On the season, Arrese owns a 74.3 scoring average over six rounds and has finished in the top four in all three tournaments she has appeared in.
The next Women's Golfer of the Week will be announced on April 11.
