KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Liz Stephens of Cumberlands (Ky.) has been named the final NAIA National Women’s Golfer of the Week for the 2013 season, the national office announced Wednesday. Stephens was selected based on her performance from April 22 – 28 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.
Stephens, a junior from Bristol, England, won the Mid-South Conference Championship for the second-straight year. Over the two day event, held at Bardstown Country Club in Bardstown, Ky., Stephens shot rounds of 76 – 71 – 147 to finish five-over-par. She finished three shots better than the runner-up. Stephens led the Patriots to a first place team finish.
On the season, Stephens is fourth in the NAIA in birdies (46), sixth in par four scoring (4.32), tied for seventh in low round score (69), tenth in par five scoring (5.15) and thirteenth in average score (77.43.)
