KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Trevor Setty of Pikeville (Ky.) has been named the NAIA National Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Setty was selected based on his performances from Feb. 11 - 17 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.
Setty, a 6-foot-8 guard from Maysville, Ky., posted back-to-back 20-point performances in a pair of key Mid-South Conference victories last week. The highlight of the week came against then-No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), as he recorded 23 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Setty followed that effort with his sixth double-double - 24 points and 10 rebounds - on the season in Pikeville's 77-75 victory over Campbellsville on Feb. 16.
For the week, the senior averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Setty shot 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the floor, including 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from 3-point range. He also made 17-of-17 attempts at the foul line.
Setty, who has scored in double figures in 25-of-26 games this season, ranks 14th nationally in scoring at 19.3 points per game. He leads the team with 188 rebounds (7.2 per game), while ranking second on the squad in free throw percentage (0.784). Setty is ninth on the Bears' all-time scoring list with 1,701 career points.
