POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. (Box Score)- Cameron Mitchell scores 31 points in leading #11 Indiana University Southeast to a 83-73 upset win over #6 Saint Xavier (Ill.) in the second round at the 2013 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship. The 2013 event is being played at the Keeter Gymnasium on the campus of College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.

Mitchell made 11-of-16 field goal attempts en route to a 2013 championship-best 31 points. His backcourt mate, Jake Simpson, scored 19 while Kevin Mitchell added 14.

IU Southeast scored the first 10 points of the game and never trailed in this second round match-up. Saint Xavier charged back and cut it to five late but a late 7-3 spurt, capped by a Simpson three-pointer, put the Grenadiers on top 38-29 at the break.

The Grenadiers opened the second half with a 16-4 run, led by Mitchell who scored his team's first eight points, to open up a commanding 58-37 lead. Saint Xavier made one final charge behind the three-point shooting of Jake Krieger, who connected on two from beyond the arc to spark a 13-0 run to get within seven, 68-61. The comeback bid stopped there, however, as IU Southeast went nearly perfect from the free throw line in the closing to minutes to preserve the win.

IU Southeast shot 53% from the field and advances to play in its second quarterfinal and first since 2010.

Saint Xavier was led by Krieger with 19 points, going 5-for-11 from beyond the arc. Brad Karp put in 15 points and Dominique Harvey chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Cougars, playing in their first ever Division II Championship, end the season with a 29-5 record.

IU Southeast moves on with a 29-4 record and will play either College of the Ozarks (Mo.) or Southern Oregon at 5:00pm on Saturday, March 9. The 32-team, single elimination tournament concludes Tuesday, March 12, with the championship game to tip-off at 8 pm.
