2014 NAIA Convention Kick-Off
April 11, 2014
“On behalf of the NAIA’s Council of Presidents, we’re excited for you to be in Kansas City,” Purce said. “This is an exciting time for the NAIA, as we define and discover various Pathways for Growth for your institution, conference and the association as a whole.”
Carr continued the welcome and encouraged attendees to take advantage of the opportunities provided at the NAIA Convention. He also introduced the newly restructured NAIA National Office staff by department.
“As many of you know, the National Office recently modified its organizational structure to better serve members and to drive forward the strategic initiatives that you’ll hear about throughout the remainder of the weekend,” Carr said.
Additionally, Lowell Pitzer, commissioner of the American Midwest Conference (AMC), Al Waller, commissioner of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC), and Larry Lady, commissioner of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), were recognized for their service to their respective conference and the association. All three are set to retire at the conclusion of the 2014-15 athletic year. Pitzer has led the AMC since 2002, while Waller has been the commissioner for the MCAC for 18 years and Lady has been the commissioner of the HAAC for 21 years.
The event concluded with an open house at the National Office.
