SIOUX CITY, Iowa - (Box Score) No. 6 Davenport (Mich.) dominated the game inside against No. 21 Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) as the Panthers advance to the quarterfinals after a 62-39 victory Friday morning in the second round of the State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championships. The Panthers scored 36 points in the paint in the second round matchup.

Davenport and Cardinal Stritch looked as if they were going to have a close game to start the second round. In the first half, neither Cardinal Stritch nor Davenport found its rhythm on the offensive ends as both teams were cold from the floor in the first half. Davenport's offense started to heat up at the end of the first half as the Panthers took an 11-point lead to the break, 31-20.

Cardinal Stritch's offensive problems continued in the second half as the Wolves missed multiple layups and found themselves down 20 with seven minutes to go in the game. Cardinal Stritch continued to try to claw back into the game but could not get any closer than 15.

The Panthers shot 47.1 percent from the floor for the game and Tiesha Stokes led the way with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Karili Harris followed with 10 points for Davenport. A trio of Wolves scored 10 points to lead the team.

The Panthers advance to the quarterfinals to face the winner of the No. 3 Eastern Oregon/No. 12 Jamestown (N.D.) matchup. Davenport will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m.
