MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The fourth season of the “Southern State Showcase” television series debuts tonight, Oct. 24, at 6:00 p.m. ET on Fox Sports South. The weekly episodes will highlight the sixteen member universities of the Southern State Athletic Conference (SSAC) throughout the season.
The showcase’s co-hosts Jon Nelson and Nicole Muracco, and producer, Scott Singer, have already been traveling from campus to campus across the Southeast and are ready to show viewers what makes the SSAC unique among other conferences in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Each episode will feature one of the sixteen conference schools along with stories celebrating rich tradition, matchless spirit and inspiring ways the student-athletes of the SSAC are making a difference both on and off the field.
SSAC Commissioner Mike Hall is proud to announce Newk’s Eatery, a fresh casual restaurant concept known among its loyal following for its culinary-inspired menu with an emphasis on freshness and flavor, has signed on as the showcase’s new title sponsor. “Our Showcase, SSAC championships and our sixteen schools are very proud to partner with them to grow their brand and to provide our fan base and great restaurant opportunity as you travel around the SSAC region,” said Hall.
The casual, upscale Newk’s Eatery offers a variety of quality, delicious menu options from the franchise’s open-view kitchens, including fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes. Newk’s Eatery locations can be found throughout the SSAC conference. The growing chain is set to open several new establishments in upcoming months including Vaughn Road in Montgomery, Ala. set to open the first week of November. Many conference championships will take place in Montgomery making this new eatery a great place for traveling fans and athletes to grab a great bite to eat while on the road.
The showcase series will air Thursday evenings beginning Oct. 24 at 6:00 p.m. ET and will re-air each Fridays at 3:30 p.m. ET Tonight’s episode will feature on the SSAC’s newest schools, Bethel University (Mckenzie, Tenn.) along with the story of how Auburn Montgomery‘s Lady Warhawks soccer team is helping spread the message of hope and encouragement during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The last show of Season 4 is set for April 3, 2014.
