Irvine, Calif. -- The Golden State Athletic Conference is excited to announce that Sheri Pine has been named the first GSAC SID of the Year. In unanimous fashion, the GSAC SIDs voted for Pine as their inaugural SID of the Year recipient based in part because of the 19 years and counting that she has served as the GSAC SID.

Pine started in the sports information business actually 22 years ago when she worked as the SID for NAIA District III of which the GSAC schools were a member.

Through the years, Pine’s attention to detail has been the driving force of the GSAC SIDs success as a group. From the look of the schedules and stories on the GSAC website (which she has maintained since 1999) to the timely release of All-GSAC and GSAC Scholar-Athlete teams to the uniformity of rosters sent out by the GSAC members- the backbone of the whole operation has been Sheri Pine.

On the national scene, Pine’s influence has stretched from the NAIA up to the NCAA Division I level. With the release of Stat Crew Next Generation- which is used from junior colleges to the top level NCAA Division I schools- she was one of the primary resources for developing the conference level reporting module. For the first several years that schools were required by the NAIA to websync game data, Pine took it upon herself to websync stats for all the GSAC schools.

Ron Smith - the SID at Westmont College- commented about Sheri Pine, “In an environment in which most schools have just one SID, her role is vital to the conference's success. Most schools do not have someone on campus who can train a new SID. Sheri fills that role in all matters related to the conference.”

Smith added, “It is not only the new SID who benefits from Sheri's encouragement, however. Sheri keeps in line those of us that have been around the conference for a while. Hardly a week goes by that I do not get a reminder from Sheri about some upcoming (or recently passed) deadline.”

While keeping up with all the demands of SID work on the website, confirming accuracy of stats, and spearheading the GSAC Player of the Week nominations, Pine keeps up with a husband that is an Athletic Director of a NCAA Division II school and three boys ranging in age from teenage to young 20’s. In her “free time”, she works part-time at Cornerstone Bible Church.

Congratulations Sheri Pine on being named the 2014 GSAC SID of the Year!!!!
