DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NAIA Sports Information Directors of America (NAIA-SIDA) met for its annual convention and business meeting at the Daytona International Speedway and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Fla.) June 11. The meeting portion of the event was held inside the Media Room at the Daytona Speedway, while the annual Clarence “Ike” Pearson Awards Dinner took place at Embry-Riddle’s Henderson Welcome Center.

Approximately 76 NAIA sports communications professionals attended the event, while others engaged via social media channels. The speedway portion was also video-streamed live.

With the emphasis on growth and development within the profession, the convention featured sessions on DakStats, the official statistical software of the NAIA, video production and how to maintain an environment of learning for a department’s student assistants.

Steve Wilson of Park (Mo.) was named the 37th recipient of the Clarence “Ike” Pearson Award, which is named for the former statistical crew chief for the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship and is given annually to an outstanding NAIA Sports Information Director.
