Summer Update 2015

Aug. 1, 2015

NAC Motion: Any baseball games played in the fall semester must be con-conference games or not count in the standings of a conference for that academic year. DENIED

NAC Motion: The NAIA-BCA executive committee will create an opening round format to be followed at all NAIA National Championship first round opening sites. DENIED

NAC Motion: The NAC body requests that the NAIA-BCA submit an actual format for approval and review at the 2016 NAIA Convention.
Discussion: Is this a time issue, opening round format issue, operation/facility issue, and/or rain day issue? APPROVED

NAC Motion: The NAIA-BCA executive committee will be involved with the selection of the opening round bids. DENIED

NAC Motion: A committee be formed by the NAIA-BCA President to gather information regarding an official start date in NAIA Baseball in the year 2017. The committee will gather information regarding the effects of implementing an official start date to the NAIA baseball season in the year 2017. Membership on the committee will consist of the NAIA-BCA President and each conference and unaffiliated chairs. The committee membership will provide the NAIA baseball coaches with the pros/cons for moving to an official start date and provide a motion to the NAIA convention in 2016 regarding the specific date. DENIED

NAC Motion: Motion: Increase the hardship limit from eight to 12. DENIED

NAC Motion: NAIA Coaches Associations must have a quorum (at least 50% of eligible voters) in order for a sport motion to be heard by the National Administrative Council. All voting will be completed using an online process following the business meeting in order to ensure all head coaches have an opportunity to vote. Motions will still be presented and discussed at the Annual Business meeting. If desired, a “straw poll” can be taken by those present to determine if a motion will be opened for vote to the full coaches association. APPROVED

Declaration of Intent If a Varsity program will not fulfill the Declaration of Intent commitment, the deadline to undeclare is four weeks prior to the start of postseason competition. 

Postseason Team Rosters Postseason rosters will be filled out via the SIDHelp admin website. You must have an account in order to fill out a postseason roster. If you don't have an account, please sign up and create your won. Your access will be granted (usually) within 24 hours.

Reporting Statistics - All official game statistics must be submitted by each institution within 72 hours of completion of a contest via Dakstats Websync. Should a member institution fail to file statistical information on any athlete for two consecutive weeks or a total of four weeks during the national statistical reporting period; the institution shall be penalized in the following manner: The first violation will be a warning. A second violation (first penalty), will be a $500 fine. The third violation will be a $1,000 fine and a loss of postseason awards. the fourth violation will be a $1,000 fine and will be addressed at the discretion of the Council.

Reporting Results- In order for schools to be eligible for ratings, results from contestes must be reported to the NAIA Scoreboard within 24 hours of the completion of the contest.

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) was founded in 1945 on the premise that college baseball needed to get organized and take charge of its own direction. Currently, membership has grown to 6,200 members, and has become a truly international organization with 32 different countries represented.



Character-Driven Coaching Course — All new NAIA coaches must complete the course within the first 60 days from the effective date of employment.

Conduct in Competition Guide Procedures for all NAIA Contests  — This guide offers practical recommendations for home and visiting insititution review of their responsibilities before, during and after the game to meet the NAIA standards for behavior during all NAIA competition.
