Former Menlo Wrestler Heading to 2012 Olympics

ATHERTON, Calif. -  (Post-match Interview) Menlo's own Jesse Ruiz, a men's wrestler from 2007-2009 has made it official. He will be representing Mexico in 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The Santa Ana native came up big in his final qualifying tournament in Orlando in late March, posting a pin in a semifinals bout to capture Olympic glory.

"I am overcome with emotion for Jesse," commented Menlo College Athletic Director and former head coach of Ruiz, Keith Spataro. "I am so proud of this extraordinary accomplishment, and to think that a former Menlo wrestler will be part of the Olympic Games is beyond special."

Ruiz enjoyed a storied Menlo career from 2007-2009 wrestling in the Heavyweight Division. The native of Santa Ana, CA was a National Champion in 2008 and an All-American in 2009.
