KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After celebrating its first-ever team national championship, Grand View (Iowa) retains the No. 1 ranking in the postseason edition of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll, the national office announced Friday. The Vikings end the 2012 campaign with five-consecutive No. 1 rankings. Omi Acosta (35-9) won his first 133-pound championship and heavyweight Eric Thompson (40-0) pinned his way to victory as the Vikings racked up 172 total points at the championships.

Grand View captured 132 points in the poll and was followed by second-ranked Southern Oregon with 101.5 points. The Nos. 3 - 6 ranked teams this week finished in that order at the 2012 NAIA National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. No. 3 Campbellsville (Ky.), No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), No. 5 Oklahoma City and No. 6 Great Falls (Mont.) shuffled around based upon their team finish.

Nine of the eleven weight classes list out new individuals ranked in the No. 1 position. Mitchell Lofstedt (39-2) of Southern Oregon was the exception. Wrestling at 125, Lofstedt becomes the only individual to hold the No. 1 spot in every poll this year (nine total). Thompson joined Lofstedt to hold their top ranking from the last poll. Southern Oregon boasts three individuals ranked at the top of their respective weight classes.

No. 15 William Penn (Iowa), No. 16 Shorter (Ga.) and No. 17 (tied) Indiana Tech are the newcomers listed. The Statesmen and Hawks both took a one-week hiatus from the poll. Indiana Tech is mentioned for the first time since a No. 20 spot on Dec. 21, 2011.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the Qualifying Groups.
