Top 20 Poll - No. 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Campbellsville (Ky.) took over at No. 1 in the first regular-season edition of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 poll, the national office announced Wednesday. The Tigers had 11 individuals land among the top 12 of their respective weight class to tally 115.5 points. Jamelle Jones is the lone No. 1 for Campbellsville, topping the list at 197 pounds.

Preseason No. 1 Southern Oregon sits just one point behind Campbellsville with 114.5 points. The Raiders boast nine ranked individuals, including a pair of top-ranked grapplers in 125-pounder Mitchell Lofstedt and Tommie Norton/Hooper at 157 pounds.

Grand View (Iowa) checked in at third with 91 points thanks to 10 listed wrestlers. Powered by 11 ranked individuals, Lindsey Wilson is fourth with 83 points. Rounding out the top-five squads is Great Falls (Mont.) with 77.5 points and nine ranked grapplers, including Anthony Varnell at 141 pounds.

No. 6 Oklahoma City, No. 7 Montana State-Northern, No. 8 Midland (Neb.), No. 9 Morningside (Iowa) and No. 15 William Penn (Iowa) all boast at least one individually-ranked wrestler. Midland lands a duo with Matt Katusin at 133 pounds and Leviticus Roberson at heavyweight.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the Qualifying Groups. The first regular-season poll will be announced Dec. 7.
