Players of the Week - No. 4

September 26, 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The fourth installment of the 2011 NAIA National Football Players of the Week was announced on Monday by the national office. Trevor Hoskins of Pikeville (Ky.) was named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week, Demitri Travis of Pikeville (Ky.) was tabbed NAIA Defensive Player of the Week and Alex Fambrough of Bethany (Kan.) was selected as NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 19 - 25. These winners were chosen out of a pool of player of the week performers among 10 conferences and independents.

Hoskins, a 6-3, 205-pound, junior quarterback from Middlesboro, Ky., racked up 481 yards through the air and tied his own school record with six touchdown passes in Pikeville’s 51-34 triumph over Faulkner (Ala.) on Sept. 24. He completed 36 of 51 attempts and became the school’s all-time leading passer with 4,168 career yards in 14 games. Hoskins tossed touchdown passes of nine, seven, 13, 13, 18 and 11 yards. He leads the NAIA with 1,362 passing yards this season.

Travis, a 5-9, 175-pound, sophomore defensive back from Hazard, Ky., thwarted several Faulkner (Ala.) drives by intercepting a school record-tying three passes in Pikeville’s victory. All three interceptions occurred in Pikeville territory, including one at the 5-yard-line as Faulkner tried to cut into the lead in the second half. Travis also had seven solo tackles. He is tied for second in the NAIA with four picks on the season.

Fambrough, a 6-2, 200-pound, senior specialist from Tyler, Texas, enjoyed a busy day in Bethany’s 25-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Sept. 24. He drilled six of seven field goal attempts, including one from 48 yards out, connected on his only extra point try and punted six times with a long of 45 for an average of 32.8 yards per punt. Fambrough also totaled 406 yards on his eight kickoffs. His nine field goals in 2011 are tied for the most in the NAIA.
